Our Collective

The Alternative Justices Project began with a desire to not merely respond the the harms of gender and sexual violence prevalent in all our communities, but to prevent harms from occurring while also easing the burden of victim/survivors by creating a culture that allowed those who have done harm to come forward and learn how to transform their behavior.

To achieve this, The Alternative Justices Project has experimented with a number of abolitionist approaches to harm prevention and harm response that refuse to engage with coercion or punishment, but still offer possibilities for hope and change.

The Alternative Justices Project operates on two levels, a systems and communities level, and a interpersonal level. The project offers theory for large-scale change, guides for communities to implement their own abolitionist harm prevention and responses, and, on an interpersonal level, provides various support circles and transformative stewarding.

We are also a District Commons Patron Project, working with them to create collective possibilities through experimental commoning in autonomous communities, spaces, and projects.
